My name is Eugenia, I am the young women's co-ordinator at SoapBox. I am writing to you regarding a new amazing opportunity.
SoapBox is working in collaboration with Silhouette Bushay on a new exciting project called 'BGCH' Black Girl Community Hub. BGCH is a Hip-Hop and Grime project aimed at young black women aged 16-25. Over the period of 15 weeks the young women will be able to explore, discuss and learn about key issues affecting young black women in the current climate, the topics will include race, gender, equality and identity.
The young women will have the amazing opportunity to work alongside industry professionals in order to produce an EP and Audio Podcast, they will learn how to organise events, lyric writing, lay down vocals, use music software, interviewing skills, podcasting, graphic design, and research.
This project will encourage the young women involved to not only explore different topics in a safe space but to also develop and gain skills in the process such as confidence building, teamwork, critical thinking and creativity. The young women will be able to have their own input and ideas which will contribute towards the direction of the project.
The project will start on Monday 12th October. The sessions will be taking place twice a week on Monday and Thursday at 5:30-7:30PM online via Zoom.
