Kingston and Richmond Youth Council (KRYC)

very two years across Richmond and Kingston Schools, colleges and youth clubs, democratic elections take place, which ensure young people from both boroughs have the opportunity to vote for their representative.

Once elected, youth council reps actively represent the views, concerns and aspirations of young people.

As well as elections for our Youth Council, UK Youth Parliament elections take place to elect two representatives to represent both Richmond and Kingston at a national level with the British Youth Council.

The current Youth Council consists of six members from Richmond and four from Kingston.

We have been elected by 13,000 young people from schools, colleges and youth clubs across Kingston and Richmond to proactively represent your views to people who make key decisions about young people in both boroughs. Our term of office is for two years. We have been working fervently, finding out the views of young people to establish a clear picture of their issues, aspirations and concerns.

The Youth Council meets three times a month. One of these meetings is a joint meeting with both UK Youth Parliament representatives. Each meeting alternates between both boroughs.

We have undertaken a number of different borough wide consultations, such as:

  • Richmond Youth Well-being Survey (2019)
  • Richmond Climate Change Youth Survey and Climate Change Youth Summit (2019)
  • Kingston Youth Offer Survey (2019)
  • Kingston Climate Change Youth Survey (2019)
  • Visiting various youth clubs and schools
  • Make Your Mark (2018)
  • Mi Voice online poll (2018)
