Free Filmmaking Workshops

Free workshops for young people aged 13-19 interested in the world of filmmaking.

This is a project aimed at those who are often not represented in the industry and who may not have thought that they could go into it. 

You can gain:

  • Practical hands-on experience
  • Networking and industry contacts 
  • AQA unit awards (including Film Making and Editing, Writing a short film, Teamwork, Running a Community Event)
  • Transferable skills: teamwork, planning, organisation, public speaking, event Management 
  • This is perfect for the Duke of Edinburgh Award Skills section 
  • CV boosting project

There are three sets of workshops, you can attend one or all three, or a mix of two!

Production

w/c 21st Feb – 28th March

6 weeks of hands-on activities, including:

  • Developing ideas into scripts

  • How to finance films

  • Working with professional film equipment

  • Directing actors

Distribution and Marketing

April – May

Get your film out there! by learning how to:

  • Plan marketing strategies

  • Make trailers, posters, and adverts

  • Approach the media and generate 'buzz'

  • Approach festivals and get your film shown

Curation and Exhibition

June – July

Dive into the world of film festivals by running your own. In these workshops you'll learn how to:

  • Source films from online platforms

  • Refine the choices to match your vision

  • Create the perfect line-up

  • And finally, run the Live Link Film Festival itself
