EARN WHILE YOU LEARN
Our heating apprenticeships allow you to make a living wage while you’re doing your gas training. Once you’ve received your CSCS card you will work on-site, gaining valuable experience and earning £10.65 – £14.00 per hour (depending on site location).
As an Access Apprentice, you will get a guaranteed interview with an established construction business who can employ you as a groundworker or labourer. In addition to helping you find paid on-site work, we will provide a fast-track gas course to help you gain the qualifications needed to join the Gas Safe Register and succeed as a heating engineer. You’ll even receive three years of guaranteed career support!
Please don’t hesitate to contact Access Training if you’d like to know more about our gas apprenticeships.
GAS & HEATING APPRENTICESHIP: COURSE OVERVIEW
Step One | Level 1 City & Guilds Health and Safety
You will attend two days of health and safety training webinars before completing the Level 1 City & Guilds Health and Safety exam remotely. This is required to make sure you know how to stay safe while working on-site.
Step Two | CSCS Card
Next, you will attend a one-day webinar in preparation for the CSCS card exam. Once you have passed the exam, you’ll be able to apply for your CSCS card, which permits you to work on-site.
Step Three | Preparing for Work
When you’ve completed Step Two, we will reach out to our network of employers in order to get you an interview for one of 300+ labourer / site work opportunities throughout the UK. You’ll attend two days of webinars to get you ready for on-site work.
Step Four | Start Earning!
Access Apprentices typically start with a standard site labourer role, so your duties will include site maintenance, setup and clearance. PPE will be provided. Expect to earn somewhere between £10.65 and £14.00 per hour.
NOTE: Duties and salary may vary depending on site location.
Step Five | Gas Theory
The theory part of your gas / heating course will be completed concurrently to your on-site work. You’ll attend online classes, and one of our experienced gas tutors will be available to help you with anything you need.
Step Six | Practical Training
Once you’ve completed the theory portion of your gas course, you’ll attend one of our fully-equipped training centres for some hands-on learning. You will develop your practical skill set under the supervision of a professional gas engineer with years of trade experience. Course content and qualifications depend on which training package you select—choose from the Essential Gas Course, the Professional Gas Course and the Premier Gas Course.
Step Seven | Ongoing Career Support
Once you’ve completed your gas course, you’ll be able to earn your ACS qualification, join the Gas Safe Register, and embark on a new career as a professional heating engineer. You can start your own business or seek employment with an established gas company—either way, you’ll benefit from up to 3 years of career support from the Access Training team. Learn more here.
