National Theatre - Writing for Theatre Course

Course Details

Ages 16-20 | at West Norwood Library & National Theatre South Bank
Project takes place in September – December 2024
Applications close on Friday 23 August, 10am

Writing for Theatre is a course for those with a passion for writing. During the course, you will develop the practical tools and skills to focus your ideas and turn them into theatre. Using exercises, games and creative tasks, find out how to generate ideas and create structure, character and dialogue. You’ll take part in theatre trips and masterclasses with theatre professionals, to help you gain a deeper understanding of the playwrighting process. The course takes place in 3 parts, first in West Norwood Library exploring the playwrighting process, the second part at the National Theatre where participants will put their skills learnt into practice, and then an option third part to hear their work out loud in a rehearsal room. We’d love to welcome you to come and take part.

This year, we’re particularly interested in hearing from people who live, work, study or socalise in our local borough of Lambeth.

As part of the course, you’ll watch performances at the National Theatre and explore other theatre spaces, too.
