Do you want a paid and professional opportunity with Abianda’s Young Women’s Advisory Group (YWAG), working as part of the Abianda team, learning about and influencing our work to increase independence and agency for young women & girls affected by criminal exploitation & violence? 

  • It is essential that you have have lived experience of being affected by criminal exploitation & the associated violence (please visit our website for an understanding of what this is)
  • You should also have an interest in wanting to use your voice for positive change for young women & girls affected by criminal exploitation & violence

We are very excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for new Young Women’s Advisory Group members and would love to hear from you!

Who can apply to be in the YWAG?
 
  • You are 18-25 years old
  • You are London-based
  • You can commit to twice per month meetings, including the YWAG monthly meeting and Abianda’s full-team meeting - these currently happen on Thursdays during standard working hours (9am-5pm)
  • You are no longer accessing 1:1 direct support from services, such as social services
  • You have lived experience of being affected by criminal exploitation and want to use your voice for positive change
We understand that the language used by professionals, including us, is not always reflective of the experiences young women have. Part of the recruitment process will include discussing with the Participation team what is lived experience of criminal exploitation and the associated violence.
 

The YWAG Induction Programme

We provide a thorough induction programme to support you with developing skills and confidence needed to use your lived experience at work in a safe and boundaried way, as well as become a fully embedded member of the team. The programme includes:
  • Elevate - Abianda’s CPD accredited leadership skills development programme for young women;

  • A workshop focusing on how to work safely using your lived experience in professional contexts and whilst maintaining personal and professional boundaries 

  • The same induction training provided to all new Abianda employees;

  • Access to Abianda’s professional development training modules for professionals - for free! 

  • Joining Abianda’s full-team meetings, social events and internal professional development trainings


What will you get out of working in the YWAG?

  • The chance to connect with other young women passionate about influencing how Abianda and other organisations serve young women and girls.
  • Abianda will remunerate lived experience time given to the organisation. This is normally on the basis of £14.35 per hour.
  • Learn how you can make your voice heard where it matters most within Abianda and the wider community.
  • Close collaboration with the whole Abianda team, tailoring opportunities to suit the interests of the young women they support.
