CARIS Haringey

CARIS Haringey has been providing a holistic range of services for families in temporary accommodation since 1990.

We are the only organization in the London Borough of Haringey that exists solely to work with and for homeless families.

Our services are open to everyone in temporary accommodation in the London Borough of Haringey, and our service-users include a high proportion of refugees, asylum-seekers, victims of domestic violence, and those with mental health issues.

CARIS advice service is designed to assist homeless families dealing with their everyday challenges including:

  • evictions
  • benefits decisions
  • debt
  • violence
  • unemployment
  • poverty
  • lack of opportunity
  • isolation

Our legally trained advice workers provide a range of specialist advice on:

  • welfare rights
  • housing
  • destitution
  • immigration (OISC level 1)
  • education
  • women and children

CARIS clients tend to have multiple needs, so most cases covered many of these issues simultaneously.

When necessary, some clients are referred or signposted for additional support using our network of partners, including community organisations and local firms.
